In order to prevent future ships from sinking, Wally the walrus is preparing to land a ‘floating sofa.’
New pictures released on social media claim to show Wally the Walrus resting in Crookhaven, continuing to bring an audience.
The 800 kilogram male walrus may be seen lounging on a tiny pleasure boat in the port, taking in the sights of West Cork.
The Irish Examiner stated on Tuesday that Wally will be given a “floating couch” to help prevent new ships from drowning.
It has spent the previous two weeks cruising and foraging along the southeast and south coasts of Kerry, where it was originally sighted in March.
After climbing into numerous small boats to rest, the young walrus has left a path of destruction in its wake, costing thousands of euros in damage and destroying at least two.
Seals and sea lions are also semi-aquatic pinnipeds, which means they must climb onshore or onto a floating item in order to sleep.
Seal Rescue Ireland (SRI) made an appeal for donations of items that might be utilized as a dedicated transit location for her to rest like a sea queen because of her affinity for reclining on boats.
